The current situation about Sacred 2

Dear Community,

From Saturday the 01 of August 2009 on, Koch Media will take over the forum.
Due of the bankruptcy of Ascaron and the subsidiary company of Ascaron: Studio 2, both companies will close the doors. Ascaron did it some weeks ago, Studio 2 who continued the work for the PC version of the Addon did it this Friday. The Studio 2 devs and both community manager (Christiane Clarenbach and me) will have to go.

The thread where the devs and the community manager say "goodbye" is here: http://forum.sacredeng.ascaron-net.c...ad.php?t=64252

The game will continue under the flag of DeepSilver (Koch Media). They made the tech. support for the game and will take from now on also the community management.

The Addon (PC version) is almost finished, a hand full of devs are still there and will work at the last bits required. The German release date is the 28.August 2009. We have no date for the international release yet.

The console version of the Addon is still planed, see here the quote from Heiko tom Felde, Christiane posted here: "The current status on the things to come for the console versions."

A new Community Manger from Koch Media will come and I'm sure he will introduce himself in few days.

It was a pleasure to be Community Manager for this wonderful community, I wish you all the best for the future!

Dear Community,

Yes, I'm back in the forum and you will find the explanation in the post I translated for you from the german forum. DeepSilver collected all the questions from the user and delivered the answers regarding the future of Sacred 2.

Quote from DeepSilver posting in the German forum:

"We've set up some answers on the most frequently asked questions.

Community/Forum

• Will the forum rules change in any way?
No, all will remain as before, nothing will be changed regarding the rules.

• Until now, the community was a very important aspect, enjoying the full focus from the devs and the forum team. Will this remain the same?
The Sacred community was always loyal, active and keen to help, so we see no reason to change the great behaviour with the community.
The community was always near to Deep Silver's heart, like you can see in projects like Risen, Trackmania and many more. Additionally, we plan in the future more expansions in this field.

• Will the freedom of the opinion be changed in the forum? In the past we could tell our opinion as long as it was conform with the forum rules.
Deep Silver has nothing against criticism, as long as as it stays objective & constructive. Of course everyone should stick to the Netiquette.

• Can't the old Community Management Team keep working? Do you take them over?
Yes, we carry on with the Community support as much as possible, since the job of the former Community Managers was done very well. We are happy we were able to keep Anca for this task.

• Will the Moderator Team stay or it will be replaced by Deep Silver moderators?
No, the mod team will remain the same. Deep Silver regards the performance of the Community Management at Ascaron Entertainment very highly and relies, in matters of forum assistance, on the current Forum Team.
For this reason, we have a deep respect for the performance of the moderators and would appreciate it if they keep their posts in the future as well.

• Will the devs still able to help us in the forum, even after they left?
The developers of Sacred 2 did a great job. They've put their heart and enthusiasm in this game, that's why they can of course post their private opinion further in this forum.

• Who is behind the accounts taking over the forum?
"Pixel" is the Community Manager from Deep Silver Germany (Marcos Duarte). The account "DeepsilverKM" belongs to the marketing team.

Main game "Fallen Angel"

• Will more patches follow soon?
Sadly due of the insolvency of Ascaron, the developer team is not available for patches anymore.

Add-On "Ice&Blood

• Is the Addon already finished?
The Addon is not quite done yet. Some of the devs are still working on some last tasks. As soon as we reach the gold status, we will post it here in the forum.

• Will be there also patches for the Addon?
Deep Silver, with the dev team, is about to finalize the Addon. We are working with high pressure at it in order to deliver a product as perfect as possible.
We are very pleased with the quality of it. The overall large development time helps a lot. However, if critical bugs are found, we will do our best to let them fix asap.

• Can we expect a Collectors Edition?
There is no separete CE for "Ice & Blood", but in the normal version you will find a poster and a map.

Consoles

• Will the addon also come on console?
At the moment is not planed to port the Addon on the consoles.

• Will there be further bugfixing or online game improvement on consoles?
The bugs will be collected by the Deep Silver Team and forwarded to an external developer team.

• Will we get further dowload content for the consoles?
It's not planed at the moment.

Sacred in general

• How does the future of Sacred look like? Will there be a Sacred 3? Are there any new addons for Sacred 2 planed?
Deep Silver is focusing exclusively on finishing the Addon "Ice & Blood". All the involved parties are concentrating on this task to give the fans a great, and as bugfree as possible, game.

• Will the community continue to be a part of the game development and will we be keep informed about it as good as before?
The community will always be a vital matter. We will keep you informed about the developement around Sacred 2 and involve you as much as possible. We are always happy to hear suggestions from the community.

• Will Deep Silver also take over some of the Studio 2/Ascaron employers?
We are glad we could win Anca for us. We will take over some of the former Ascaron employees. However, there is no reason to worry about the team, skilled and experienced game developers will always find a new job.

Ladder

• Will the Ladder be finalized?
We will take care to keep the Ladder up to date and expand it with the new Addon content.

• Will a Ladder reset occur?
We cannot say anything about this at the moment.

Support

• Does the support have limited availability time? What happens with the support requests/Ladder issues at the weekend/evenings?.
Nothing changes regarding the support times. Deep Silver has historically done the support for Sacred 2 and will do it in the future as well. Also the partners for the Lobby/server remain the same, whereby the issues can be reported and fixed as fast as before.

• How long will the servers/Lobby keep running?
Deep Silver now owns the complete server farm for Sacred 2 & will therefore be able to provide online gaming after the release of "Ice & Blood". We will continue to optimize the whole infrastructure.

• Will the number of the free servers change?
Deep Silver will have to take a deeper look into the statistics to be able to make a statement on this topic.

Copy Protection

• Will the copy protection change or deleted?
No. We will use the same copy protection like in the classic game "Fallen Angel".

• How long will we be able to activate the game? When the copy protection will be turned off, will be there a patch, so we are able to continue playing the game?
Don't worry about the operating ability of the servers. The server for the activations are hosted by SecuROM (Sony). In this way we can make sure
the server will remain online for the near future.
As soon as we change the copy protection, we will deliver an update making activation unnecessary anymore."

Dear Community,

Again a "good bye" post from me..

Last Friday, the 6th of November was the last day for me in this forum. I thank you for the time I was allowed to spend with this wonderful community.

This being said, I would like to send a big "thank you" to the mod team who helped me all the time. I could never manage this all without you. Keep up the good work.

Deep Silver will introduce soon a new Community Manager for the international forum who will take over my job.
