Official note UK Sacred release seen at Eurogamer

Koch UK confirms at Eurogamer Nov release for Sacred2 all platforms

Sacred 2 for PC, consoles in November News News by Rob Purchese
Today 11:51
Koch has clarified to Eurogamer that Sacred 2 will launch on 7th November across all three platforms: PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Confusingly, only the latter was given that date after being confirmed as a playable platform back in June.

Sacred 2, then, is an action RPG set in a fantasy land and isometric view, a bit like Diablo. In fact, the similarities continue into the button-bashing combat and abilities and skills that improve as a result of the hordes you slaughter.

Perhaps the biggest attraction will be online co-op, which allows friends to jump in and out of each other's campaigns. The PC version should support around 16 players, while the Xbox 360 will support four on Live or two on the same machine. PS3 numbers are unknown but should be similar.

So far there are six unique races (classes, essentially) to pick between: Serraphim, Shadow Warrior, High Elf, Dryad, Temple Guardian and Inquisitor. Each has unique trees of abilities to climb, plus special mounts that can be used in battle.

All that plus the huge world of Ancaria to explore, multi-level dungeons, bundles of quests, and a storyline that changes depending on whether you cleanse the land of baddies or add to the chaos.

We've been impressed so far, even after previewing Sacred 2 way back in November 2007.

Oh great

Thanks for clarifying that Tom, looks like us Brits are going to have to import a copy, at least it gives us time to decide the best place to get a copy from.

Don't worry, we know this issue is caused by the retailers; for several months now PC games have been increasingly marginalised in UK video game retailing, and this is another (very) unfortunate example of that trend.

Yup, I think there's going to be a fair few UK gamers who're going to order from abroad. It won't (shouldn't) make any difference to Ascaron, but Deep Silver are doing to loose sales...

Hmm, should we as a whole care what happens to Deep Silver's sales numbers for the PC version? I'm not an economist, so my concern is just how many PC copies are sold. If some publisher makes a marketing error, tough luck for that publisher. But, they are gonna blame the poorer initial PC sales in UK on other things besides their conscious decision to delay the release of the PC version, whereas other English-speaking regions will get the game earlier. Gogo import.

Blame publisher here, not the retailers. Plus even though PC games certainly are the least-selling games in high street stores, releasing it at a different/later date won't help increase sales. If anything, releasing them at the same time as the console versions will reduce PC sales. I have no clue what the prices are to buy in the PC stock but release prices haven't gone up on PC (if anything they have gone down). Still margins are terrible all round on PC (due to no trade-ins etc in some stores) Certainly don't blame the devs anyway, you don't have to worry about us being upset with you Heiko!

Anyhoo I'd be happy to wait til Nov if it was a worldwide thing, or if it was a 'good' reason, like finishing up localisation (the main reason we often get games later in Europe), but a reason like this? Pfft.

I'm sorry, I did not understand what you just said, Tom. O.O If you said what I slightly think you said, I am afraid! "The rest will go" bit has me confused.

Here in Greece we expect it on September 29th! I'm sure we'll have a 1-2 day delay though because it always happens with the games!
